At the moment in the Russian Federation there are in force the amendments to the law «On the legal status of foreign citizens in the Russian Federation» (hereinafter – Law) and to the law «On the migratory registration of foreign citizens and stateless persons (the so called apatrides) in the Russian Federation». According to the specified laws the following order of registration of foreign citizens in the territory of the Russian Federation is established: Under article 20 of the mentioned Federal Law «…a foreign citizen in case of staying in a place of residence is obliged to be registered in a place of residence…».

According to the Russian legislation individuals are required to provide the identity proving document (Usually there is no direct demand to provide precisely the passport of the Russian Federation citizen). Russian legislation does not prescribe any unitary full list of identity proving document.
